How PCOS Changed My Life

Hi, thanks for stopping by…PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) changed my life for the better. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my late 20’s, (yikes I’m getting old..ha) I was devastated as many of us women are with such a scary diagnosis.  At the time I had missed my period for almost an entire year, was in excruciating pain from having so many cysts on my ovaries, had major highs and lows with blood sugar (oftentimes resulting in feeling faint and having to rush to get juice or candy), had night sweats at such a young age and had lots of mood swings. And I had cysts on my breast which terrified me…Once my doctor diagnosed me with PCOS she gave me a pamphlet and mentioned that trying to conceive will be a problem.  I left the office feeling so sad and alone…walking around NYC crying, thinking there has to be a better way than to just accept this diagnosis…so after crying most of the day…I mustered up my confidence, stood up straight, wiped my tears away and walked proudly into a health food store to read up on PCOS…I must admit, I felt overwhelmed reading about supplements and diet since I had no knowledge of either. I then stumbled upon a nutrition magazine from IIN..I read each page with a fine tooth comb…I ran home with excitement. This could be it. I called them immediately after walking in my tiny apartment (didn’t even take off my shoes or coat) and extensively questioned them about their nutrition school and if they knew about PCOS…Well the stars aligned for me that day because sitting right next to the owner of IIN was a health coach who also had PCOS and healed herself..

I could not even speak correctly. I was stuttering with excitement…could this really be true?  The coach said come to our seminar next week and we can talk.

I cleared my schedule, bought a new notebook, cute pen and headed to IIN’s seminar to learn about the curriculum.  Fast forward 6 months into my studies, my ovarian and breast cysts all went away, I started having regular menses cycles, had no more pain, hot flashes seemed to lessen and had no more of the highs and lows of blood sugar. I knew this happened for a reason: It’s for me to help and support other women with their diet who are going through this PCOS ordeal.
