Alan's Biography
Ketamine is an anesthetic that has been administered to surgical patients since the early 1970's. Dr. Young first administered Ketamine during training in 1979 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. It was an important component of the "drug cocktail" he used routinely for over 30 years for his patients undergoing surgery.
Recently it has been discovered that a subanesthetic dose of Ketamine given by intravenous infusion is extremely effective in relieving the symptoms of major depression including the most potentially dangerous symptom of them all - suicidal ideation.
Both his experience with the drug and his training as a board certified anesthesiologist qualify him to administer Ketamine safely in the uniquely warm and nurturing setting of Full Circle Integrative care.
Dr. Young graduated from the The Catholic University of Louvain in Begium in 1978. He trained in Anesthesiology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and has been board certified in Anesthesiology since 1983.
He practiced Anesthesiology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City for several years and was on staff as an anesthesiologist for over thirty years at White Plains Hospital in Westchester County.
